Honor Bound FIT is a veteran-owned strength and conditioning facility in Fredericksburg, VA. Position Title: Marketing, Media, & Community Engagement Intern
Position Summary
Honor Bound FIT seeks driven, creative, and professional interns to support our growing mission through social media management, event planning, outreach, and research. Interns will gain real-world experience in marketing strategy, community engagement, and brand development—while learning directly from veteran entrepreneurs and fitness professionals.
This internship is ideal for students studying Communication & Digital Studies, Business Administration, Marketing, Health Science, or Kinesiology, but all majors are welcome to apply.
Roles & Responsibilities
Interns will work closely with the Honor Bound FIT leadership team on projects including:
Social Media Management: Develop and schedule content across Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube; assist with filming, editing, and analytics tracking.
Content Creation: Write captions, blog posts, and short-form copy that reflect Honor Bound FIT’s voice and values.
Event Planning: Help organize community workouts, charity rucks, and veteran-focused events such as GUIDON22.
Outreach & Networking: Coordinate with local businesses, nonprofits, and schools to build partnerships and awareness.
Research & Strategy: Conduct audience research, track campaign metrics, and present recommendations for growth.
Time Commitment
- Fall/Spring: 10–20 hours per week (primarily in-person, flexible schedule)
- Summer: 10–40 hours per week
Most work is performed on-site in Fredericksburg, VA, with occasional off-site events and remote tasks.
Compensation & Benefits
- Includes gym membership and personal training access during internship
- Eligible for commission on direct sales of gym memberships
- Eligible for academic credit through the University of Mary Washington
- May count toward volunteer or service-learning hours
- Letters of recommendation available for outstanding performance
Supervision & Mentorship
Interns will be supervised and mentored by Rich Brown and Keith Linde, Co-Founders of Honor Bound FIT. Regular mentorship meetings and feedback sessions will guide personal and professional growth.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the internship, students will be able to:
- Apply digital marketing strategies to a mission-driven brand
- Plan and execute community events from concept to completion
- Communicate effectively with diverse audiences and stakeholders
- Demonstrate leadership, accountability, and initiative in a professional environment
- Build a portfolio showcasing real-world marketing and outreach experience
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with social media platforms and trends (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok)
- Basic proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools (preferred)
- Interest in fitness, health, veteran affairs, or community engagement
- Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable working in a dynamic small-team environment
